MG Rover bought by Nanjing
The drawn out bidding battle for the remains of MG Rover has finally come to an end, with Chinese carmaker Nanjing emerging as the owner of both the British car brand and its engine producer Powertrain. Despite a last minute alteration to its bid, the Kimber group headed by David James was passed over by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, which was responsible for the sale of MG Rover after the company's collapse. Nanjing has already said it will relocate MG Rover's engine plant and some car production to China, but expects to employ up to 2,000 workers in the U.K. where final assembly of MG's automobiles will take place. The third bidder, SAIC, was the most favored potential owner by unions because it was believed that company would create the most jobs in England.

It is good news that the company will still be around, but I think it will lack engineering development since the Chinese are new to the industry. I just cant picture a British globalized car.
Honda should have taken over the job.

Hope they will recognise the heritage of MG and go back to making cool little roadsters and coupes instead of those lame Rover MGs.
@1: Honda?? why would they even want the Rover brand? It would be a serious step back for them.

I'll give time to shake out... if the new group can get MGs to the US I don't care if Satan himself builds MGs, just make mine LeMans green.
Except SAIC who I believe crapped the original deal to get the carcass of MGR cheap.

Nothing wrong with a Chinese MG.
Much excellent Chinese food already has MSG.
